These references are particularly oriented for gastric sleeve and gastric bypass surgeries. In the case of more complex procedures, such as Duodenal Switch (BPD-DS) surgery and Revision Weight Loss Surgery, it may require a more specific evaluation, previously reviewed by our team of specialists.

Weight loss surgery is a very good option when your BMI is equal to or greater than 30. Commonly, obesity is divided into the following categories:

  • Overweight (not obese), if BMI is 25.0 to 29.9.
  • Class 1 (low-risk) obesity, if BMI is 30.0 to 34.9.
  • Class 2 (moderate-risk) obesity, if BMI is 35.0 to 39.9.
  • Class 3 (high-risk) obesity, if BMI is equal to or greater than 40.0.

If you have already performed your BMI calculation and you are a candidate for a bariatric procedure, do not hesitate to contact our obesity clinic so we can answer any query that you may have.
